Most guests fly into Guatemala City (GUA). From there, plan roughly half a day for a shared shuttle or private transfer to Lake Atitlán, depending on traffic and stops.
The lake sits near 1,500 m elevation — many people acclimate within a day or two. Hydrate, move gently, and expect cool evenings even when days are mild.
